Bible Reading Plans

In our journal, you will find two suggested reading plans developed by Wayne Cordeiro (www.lifejournal.cc). The first one, Plan A, will take you through the whole of the Old Testament and twice through the New Testament over the course of the year. The second one, Plan B, takes only a portion of the reading from Plan A and offers a decreased amount of reading without losing the flow.

NOTE: PDF files of the reading plans can be downloaded from the attachment section at the bottom of this page.

As an alternative to our journal handbook, you may enjoy mobile apps to assist you in your daily time in the Word. YouVersion is a free mobile Bible app that runs on Blackberry, Droid, and iPhone devices. Once you’ve downloaded the app, simply sign up for the LifeJournal reading plan (Plan A) or the First Steps reading plan (Plan B) and track with the daily reading schedule provided. The app will even allow you to listen to your reading plan as it will read the Scripture to you as you go about your daily routines.

Finally, you may track the reading plan online through YouVersion.com (see instructions above) or by going to Cordeiro’s website: www.lifejournal.cc.

NOTE: Cordeiro also offers a journal and reading plan for young children that you can purchase by going to the website. This plan would be even a smaller portion of reading than the Plan B schedule but still consistent with the overall reading plans outlined above.

How to use this Journal

”My sheep HEAR my voice; I know them, and they follow me.” — John 10:27

An essential part of growing in your relationship with Christ is spending time with Him on a consistent basis. It’s important that we hear Jesus’ voice and respond to it obediently. We primarily hear from Jesus ... from God ... through the Scriptures. by using the H.E.A.R. journaling method outlined below in conjunction with a bible reading plan, you will be able to grow more like Him. You will be able to process what you are reading and put it into action.

His Word (verse)
Once you have read the daily reading, write out the verse or verses that struck you most.
Exploration (insights & observations)
Explain in your own words the specific points, principles or details that caught your attention.
Application (how I will obey)
The verse or passage struck you for a reason. It spoke directly to something in your life. Where is God speaking into your life?
Response (prayer)
How are you going to respond to what God has spoken into your life? What specifically should you do in response? Write a personal prayer thanking god for blessing you and ask Him to help you follow through on your response.
